To the Obedience of Christ -The Armour

Ephesians 6:10-20, Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

The Armour

In the great book of Ephesians 6:10, Paul starts by encouraging the Believer to “Be strong in the Lord and in the Power of his might” when confronted in battle against such a host of demonic forces, and to stand in the armour of God one must know where the power of the Lord really resides and how to access it, otherwise you are no match for what is set against you in the spirit world and your flesh, ie your passions, affections, desires and lusts.

  • Your loins girt about with truth

John 14:6, Jesus said unto him,  I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life no man comes unto the Father but by me.

John 6:48-56, I am that bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

This is the Truth, that the Blood Sacrifice of Christ is the only way into the Throne Room of the Father. Going to the Cross of Christ with faith in his Blood is the only way you can approach, and partaking of His Body on a daily basis through faith is the only place you will have abundant life and victory. This is not communion as in the Lord’s Supper but a daily walk of faith. This is the faith that the Holy Spirit will honor and move on your behalf to cause Victory, Life and an abundant supply of the Holy Spirit flowing in your spirit.

Hebrews 11:19, Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the Blood of Jesus, by a new and living way

Hebrews 4:16, Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

  • Having on the Breastplate or Righteousness

Isaiah 59:16-19, And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him. For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke. According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompense to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompense. So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.

Romans 4:13-16, For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

The Righteousness that come from God is only obtained through faith in the Sacrificed Body of Christ and what he did for us on the Cross, which is the only Sacrifice the Holy Spirit will honor and  cause a standard to rise for you, a standard of Righteousness that protects you from the Law of Sin and Death being fulfilled in your members.

Romans 1:16-17, For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

  • Your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.

Before there is a publishing and spreading of the Gospel there is a time of preparation and learning to publish the True Gospel. A true Soldier of under Christ’s command is properly prepared for battle who knows and understands the armour and weapons he has and has mastered them properly, inasmuch as that the Truth will go forward with True Power and Anointing converting and recompensing evil with the full Judgement of God confirming his Word.

2 Timothy 2:15, Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Corinthians 10:6, And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Isaiah 52:7, How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

Isaiah 61:1-3, The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that arebound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

To the Obedience of Christ -The Obedience of Faith

2 Corinthians 10:3-6, For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Obedience

When one thinks of obedience they immediately begin to think in terms of them doing something instead of them believing something. If your obedience was predicated to you doing something then you would have been qualified to going to the Cross for the sins of humanity, which also means that you would have lived a sinless life and would have been the spotless Lamb of God. Your obedience is not predicated to you doing something but believing something and something specific. Paul said it like this in Romans 8:2, That the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus hath set me free from the Law of Sin and Death, and again he said in the same chapter, if you through the Spirit mortify the deeds of the body you shall live, in Galatians 2:20 he said, I am crucified with Christ, and in Galatians 5:24 those who are Christ’s have Crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts and if we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit, and in Romans 12:1, I beseech you therefore, brethren by the Mercies of God that you present your bodies a Living Sacrifice, which is your reasonable service. The doing something is and only can be the work of faith in what Jesus Christ did for us.

Philippians 2:5-10, Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became OBEDIENT UNTO DEATH, EVEN THE DEATH OF THE CROSS. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

It is an obedience of faith into the baptism of death into Christ’s death on the Cross.(Romans 6:1-7) This is the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus. This is not water baptism this is a baptism into death through faith and identity of being Crucified with Christ. The very weapon that was used to try to destroy Jesus is the very weapon that we use to pull down strong holds. This is the Sword of the Spirit, The Word of God that the Sacrifice of Christ is the reconciliation for sin, not just for Justification, but also for Sanctification, and our faith in what He did on the Cross is what shields us from the very onslaught of the evil one, and causes the work of the Holy Spirit to unplug the sin nature known as the works of the flesh, and reverse it’s effects it had on our human nature, this is known as Sanctification. Christ Jesus is our Righteousness, Justification and Sanctification, he is our peace, what he did on the Cross is sufficient for everyone for all eternity. ~Michael Hilliard

To the Obedience of Christ -The War

2 Corinthians 10:3-6, For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

The War

If you are a Born-Again Christian then you are very well familiar with the warfare that we are engaged in. With the passions and desires of the flesh which are corrupted by lust seeking to dominate and rule in our lives coupled with an entire host of demonic and evil spirits that seek to make sure that we are destroyed by these passions and desires, has brought this warfare to every Born-Again Believer, none excluded. But how we engage in this warfare determines whether victory is experienced over the flesh, devil and the world.

100% of the Body of Christ when engaged in this battle attempt to go to warfare after the flesh and with the reliance on self 100% of the Body of Christ fails, and so the seeking of truth to gain and maintain victory comes to a stalemate because the power of the Law of Sin and Death dominates to where the Believer finally quits and gives up, and some of them, their faith becomes shipwrecked. The reason they become casualties of war is because they have tried every fad to overcome and nothing seems to bring victory over sin.  For others, because of the dominance of the Law of Sin and Death in their lives, have perverted the Message of Grace to suit their lifestyle and excuse their lack of knowledge that is producing the destruction of sin in their life.

Once where the Power of the Holy Spirit that burned like fire in their spirit is now waning in intensity and strength because the battle with the Law of Sin and Death has gained so much ground that the power that was experienced at conversion is all lost and forgotten, and faith is abandoned and shipwrecked. The Apostle Paul explained these two battle fronts well in Galatians 5:17-21 and Ephesians 6:12, but he also told us where our victory was and assured over this Law. ~Michael Hilliard

The Nature of Sin

Translation from KJV: If we say that we (John including himself so he is meaning believers) have no SIN, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

SIN: ἁμαρτίαν (Hamartian) used in the N-AFS (Noun- Accusative Feminine Singular) not meaning acts of sin which would be a verb but it is the direct object of the transitive verb being feminine and singular meaning “the sin” or “the only one sin” or a more specific translation of the noun would be “the nature of sin” making it the direct object of the sentence.

The Deception

With so many voices coming from Pastors, teachers and ministers saying we have no sin nature because it has been done away with when we became Born-Again Believers and that having two natures (sin nature & Divine Nature) would make us a two-headed monster even though, they will agree that sin will dominate in a believer’s life, still conclude that the sin nature is non-existent. So therefore, according to these teachers, the way we overcome the sin that remains after conversion is that we have to reprogram our mind and the way to do this is through the renewing of the mind with the Word of God. What they fail to realize is that we do not have a glorified body yet and although the sin nature is disconnected, it still remains, so their conclusions are all wrong. Also does anyone take in consideration that, that would be works, which relies on self to sanctify self and not the Holy Spirit to do the work of Sanctification. I choose to believe what the Bible teaches according to 1 John 1:8 that we do have a sin nature and according to Romans 7:23 that the mind is powerless against the Law of Sin and Death no matter what you do to it. This is what Psychology has been trying to figure out in studying the mind and has not been to do anything at all to solve the problem, which is sin.  The Church itself has adopted some Psychology and religionized it in a sence because they themselves do not know or understand how the Sacrifice of Christ pertains to the overcoming of the annoyances of petty sins. So, that tells me that all those voices that teach we do not have a sin nature, and that renewing of the mind overcomes sin have missed it and also have deceived themselves and those that listen to them. This list is very long which includes some of the most famous and well respected ministers which are, Wommack, Prince, Copeland, Dollar and many others, these are to just name a few, that the church has flocked to for leadership and guidance but have been deceived by the mishandling of the Word of God!

So what is the truth concerning the Christian in relation to “the sin” or the “sin nature” aka “the essence of sin” then?

KJV Translation: Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be DESTROYED, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.

DESTROYED: Greek- καταργηθῇ pronunciation, katargēthē used in the V-ASP-3S (Verb-Aorist Subjunctive Passive-3rd Person Singular.) It means: to make idle, make no effect, annul, sever, separate from. It does not mean to make disappear or cause to be non-existent, that reality will not be known until we receive our glorified bodies, the Greek basically means to be made unfruitful.

So What is the Answer?

So if “the sin”, “sin nature” or the “essence of sin” is to be unfruitful then why are so many Christians failing and falling into some of the most despicable sins? The answer is found in Romans 7:9-11:

For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, SIN REVIVED, and I died. And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. For SIN, TAKING OCCASION BY THE COMMANDMENT, DECEIVED ME, and by it slew me.

According to the Doctrine of the Apostle Paul and we all can testify that is true in all our lives is that if a man strives to fulfill the commandment in the flesh although it being a very noble desire to please God still gives strength and life to the very nature of sin that will dominate your will no matter how much will power you use to strive against it, it will defeat you. This is the Law of Sin and Death. This is a spiritual law and it is a powerful law that will dominate you every time. That is why Paul said that those who are of the flesh can not please God no matter how hard they try because they are approaching Him through works and not by the Law of Faith.

So what is the answer to this struggle and trap? Answer: Romans 6:1-6, the Cross, the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ, our identity in that death, our faith in being “In Him” upon the Cross. This is the only faith that pleases God, it is the only faith that the Holy Spirit will accept to move on your behalf and separate “the sin” from dominating you. This is the work of the Holy Spirit, not you. It is not based off how much scripture that you can memorize to renew your mind or, your ability to quote scripture in the face of temptation because you are no match to the Law of Sin and Death. Most certainly we are to memorize scripture, most certainly we are to pray, most certainly we are to have Christian disciplines but these disciplines do not overcome sin. There is only one remedy that God has ordain for sin’s payment and destruction and maintained victory and that is complete surrendered faith in the Cross, the Sacrificed Body and Blood of Jesus Christ with your identity you being there “In Him”. To put it simply, sin is the problem and the Cross is the answer. Condemnation is not your problem, emotional stress is not your problem, psychology doesn’t hold your answer, the Blood of Jesus does.

Only the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus is more powerful than the Law of Sin and Death, this is the only answer to habitual sin’s power over your life. ~Michael Hilliard

Believe with the Heart

Romans 6:17-18 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

Living in a day where there are so many voices to distract and weaken the true Faith that holds it’s object in the Sacrifice of Christ, it is no wonder that the sin that so easily besets us is always clawing to dominate and mar the Righteousness that is only by Faith in what Jesus did for us on the Cross. If the Cross is the dividing line between the True Bride of Christ and the Apostate Church then believing with the heart which is True Faith sets us a part from the sin that just agreement with the Cross or mental assent with the Cross cannot. What do I mean or how can I make such a statement? You see just mentally agreeing with the Message of the Cross will not set you free from the petty, annoying sins that seem to claw and destroy what true faith you have. It takes believing with the heart that brings the Righteouness that flows from Emmanuel’s Veins. With that type of Faith in the Sacrifice of Christ causes the Holy Spirit to move in your personal life unlike anything that you could possibly imagined, basically it requires a complete and total devotion of one’s heart for it’s fulfillment. You must understand that the only place where sin was dealt with was on the Cross of Calvary.

Believe with the Heart Daily

Unfortunately the exploits of faith you did yesterday will not suffice for today. Although the Cross of Christ is sufficient from the time of His crucifixion until eternity your faith from yesterday is not. The power that you experienced from yesterday’s faith is only to remind you that Power is made available to you on a daily basis when you pick up your Cross daily and Follow him. In doing so you can say with the Apostle Paul “I am crucified with Christ nevertheless I live yet not I but Christ liveth in me”. The Holy Spirit will honor that faith in Christ’s Sacrifice because His Blood was the propitiation for our sins and will move Him, arouse Him to produce Righteousness and all those needs you take to prayer because your eyes are on those things that pertain to the Kingdom and His Righteouness. Devote your entire heart to Him and experience the Power of the Cross that frees from all sin.
